Position Overview:

We are seeking a dependable and self-motivated Janitor/Maintenance Technician to join our team at a 100% Section 8 housing community located in Waukegan, IL. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our apartment community. The ideal candidate will have experience in light maintenance, janitorial services, and a strong commitment to serving a diverse resident population with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning of common areas, including hallways, lobbies, laundry rooms, and restrooms
• Remove trash and debris from interior and exterior areas of the property
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry repairs
• Prepare vacant units for new residents by cleaning and making basic repairs
• Respond promptly to service requests and complete work orders in a timely and professional manner
• Assist with snow removal and seasonal property upkeep
• Report safety hazards, needed repairs, and security concerns to the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
• Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures
• Demonstrate respect and sensitivity when working in residents' homes, especially in a subsidized housing environment
• On Call Rotation required

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1+ year experience in janitorial, custodial, or maintenance work (property management or residential setting preferred)
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and appliance repair
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and work in various      weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
• Must pass a background check and drug screening, in compliance with federal and      state housing regulations
